MR Detail Window Data Fields


This window is used to enter, edit, or view a Modification Request against a COMPAS document. Following are definitions of fields in this window:

MR number:
The unique COMPAS MR number assigned to the MR entry. You cannot enter a value into this field.
COMPAS ID:
The unique COMPAS ID assigned to the document for which you are writing this MR. You cannot change this field value.
MR Type:
The type of change requested for an MR. For example, typing "enh" in this field makes this an enhancement MR. Select the DownArrow button for this field to get a menu of choices. The MR will become a special type of MR if the value "external" is entered into this field. The MR is then considered to be from an "external" MR system, and cannot be edited or modified while in the COMPAS system. It can only be printed when the document is printed or included in MR reports.
Category:
The class of user who found the problem. There are categories such as administration, customer, developer, test, and so on. For example, typing "dev_found" indicates the MR was found by the development staff. Select the DownArrow button to get a menu of choices for this field.
Severity:
The severity of the MR. Valid values are from 1 to 4 where the value of 1 is the highest severity. A severity 1 situation would be a system breakdown with no possible work-around. A severity 2 situation would be a breakdown with a possible work-around. Severity 3 MRs describe conditions of less impact than severity 1 or 2, and they may be expressed with 3 degrees of granularity: high, medium, and low. Severity 4 indicates a useful suggestion. Select the DownArrow for this field to get a menu of choices.
System:
The name of the system or project for the document. This field is for information only and you cannot enter a value.
Release:
The product release of the document. This field is for information only and its value cannot be changed on this form.
Subsys:
The name of the product subsystem of the document. This field is for information only and cannot be changed on this form.
Doc Type:
The type of the document. This field is for information only and cannot be changed on this form.
Status:
The status of the document MR. The value of this field is automatically assigned by the system.
Comment:
This is a free-format field. Refer to your project methodology to determine how the project has decided to use this field.
Abstract:
A short abstract or summary of the MR.
Assigned:
The person assigned to provide a solution to the MR. The value of this field is set to the owner of the document by default. The value of this field is a login id. For example, you can type "hjb" in this field to assign the MR to a person with the login "hjb".
Creator:
The person who created the MR. The value for this field is automatically assigned and will be your login. The value of this field can only be changed by the librarian.
Created:
The date this MR is created, in the form mm/dd/yy. The date is automatically assigned to this field and can only be changed by the librarian.
StatDate:
The date on which the status was changed for the document MR, in the form mm/dd/yy. The date for this field is automatically assigned.
VerFixed:
The version number of the document that was delivered to fix this MR. If the document is controlled and in the status of chg_ctl, COMPAS automatically enters the version fixed when the update is delivered to fix the MR.
Fixed:
The date that the MR must be fixed in the form mm/dd/yy. For example, type "07/21/94" in this field to indicate that the MR must be fixed before July 21, 1994. A value is not required for this field.

If you are creating a new MR, enter values for all required fields. Then select "File/Save" from the menu bar button to enter the MR. Next, select "Edit/Description" and enter an MR description in the editor window which appears. When you have finished entering a full description of the MR, save your data and exit the editor.
