MR Status Designations

The Change MR Status window contains menu choices which allow you to change the status of the MR. Electronic mail is sent to the originator, person assigned, and owner for every transaction described below. The history file is also updated to reflect the action.

User permissions for changing statuses, allowed state transitions, and meanings the various statuses follow:

Select this item to put the MR under investigation (change the status to "investig"). Only the person assigned or librarian is allowed to change the MR to "investig" and it must be in the "created" status.
nochange
Select this item to no-change the MR (change the status to "no_changed"). Only the person assigned or the librarian is allowed to make this change and the status must be either "created" or "investig".

approve
Select this item to approve the resolution of an MR (change the status to "approved"). An MR must be approved before a controlled document in the status of "chg_ctl" can be updated. Only the originator of the MR or the librarian is allowed to make this change and the status must be either "resolved" or "completed". If the status is "completed" below, the person assigned can change the status to "approved" so that additional changes can be made if necessary to fix the same MR.
complete
Select this item to complete an MR (change the status to "completed"). Only the person assigned or the librarian is allowed to make this change and the status must be "resolved". If a document update is delivered to COMPAS, the status will automatically move from "approved" to "completed" provided the doc status is chg_ctl and it is a controlled document.
close
Select this item to close an MR (change the status to "closed"). Anyone except the person assigned can close the MR if they are acting in an official capacity. They will be asked to confirm that they approve the closure of the MR and a record will be made in the history file. Closed MRs will not be printed automatically when the document is printed.
